Government schemes exist. Discovery is the problem.
CGTMSE, PMEGP, MUDRA, Stand-Up India, the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund and a dozen more can carry a large part of your funding — if someone maps your eligibility and carries the paperwork through.
CGTMSE — collateral-free credit guarantee
Guarantee cover for eligible MSME borrowing without collateral, up to ₹5 crore. The lender still underwrites you; the guarantee removes the security barrier that stops most first-time borrowers.
PMEGP — capital subsidy
Margin-money subsidy for new manufacturing and service units, running up to 35% of project cost for eligible categories and locations. Strictly for new units, with defined project-cost ceilings.
SIDBI programmes
Direct and refinance products for machinery, equipment and growth capital, often at finer pricing than commercial lending for MSMEs with clean GST and banking records.
MUDRA — Shishu, Kishore, Tarun
Micro-enterprise finance up to ₹10 lakh (₹20 lakh under the extended Tarun category), routed through banks, NBFCs and MFIs.
Stand-Up India
Greenfield project finance between ₹10 lakh and ₹1 crore for SC/ST and women entrepreneurs setting up in manufacturing, services, trading or agri-allied activity.
PM SVANidhi
Collateral-free working capital for street vendors, with interest subvention and rising limits on timely repayment.
Agriculture Infrastructure Fund
Interest subvention and guarantee support for warehousing, cold chain, grading, sorting and primary processing capacity — the largest subsidy pool available to food and agri businesses.
Agricultural Marketing Infrastructure
Back-end subsidy for scientific storage and market-linkage infrastructure, available to farmers, cooperatives, states and private investors.
Agri Clinics and Agri Business Centres
Composite subsidy and venture finance for agriculture graduates establishing advisory, input or service enterprises.
Weaver MUDRA and SRMS
Working capital, tools and equipment finance for handloom weavers, and rehabilitation finance into alternative occupations for eligible applicants.
Education loan subsidies — CSIS, Padho Pardesh, Dr Ambedkar Scheme
Interest subsidy during the moratorium on education loans for economically weaker families, and on overseas study loans for eligible minority, OBC and economically backward students.
State and sector incentives
Capital subsidies, interest subvention, power tariff concessions and export incentives vary by state and sector. These are the ones most businesses never claim.

Questions we are asked
Which government scheme gives a collateral-free business loan?
CGTMSE provides credit guarantee cover that lets eligible MSMEs borrow without collateral, currently up to ₹5 crore per borrower.
Do I need Udyam registration for MSME schemes?
Yes. Udyam registration is the baseline identifier for MSME scheme eligibility in India, and most lenders and scheme desks will ask for it first.
